Born in gray Northern England, Alistair grew up in sunny Zimbabwe, where he describes a happy childhood bereft of stylish consumer objects. He was attracted to cool cars such as the futuristic Citroen DS19 and the elegantly designed Vickers VC10 airliner. Returning to England to attend St. Martins School of Art, a foremost Art & Design college, Alistair interned at the English National Opera, immersing himself in costume and set design. With his B.A. in Fashion and Textiles, Alistair designed jewelry collections for Vivienne Westwood and Rifat Ozbek. His flair for styling became apparent when he worked as Style Editor for the BBC magazine division. In 2000, he landed the plum job of Styling Editor at Martha Stewart Living and moved to New York. After that he worked as Prop and Set Stylist for a multitude of clients, including Restoration Hardware, Oprah, and Food & Wine.
