Marcus has the flexibility and ability to wear quite a few hats, having worked in the industry for over 16 years. Starting his career as an Art Director in Sydney, Australia where he worked at first for several women's fashion titles such as Vogue and Elle, he has an understanding and affinity for the art of graphic design, layout, and art directing, having applied this knowledge and skills to many facets of his work. Taking up Style Directing positions was a natural progression as he was able to fuse both styling and art directing together. Marcus held a variety of Style Directing positions on staff and on a freelance basis in Australia before taking the leap to move full time to the United States, after being asked to join the Real Simple team in New York as the Style Director in 2006. Seen then, Marcus has held many jobs in both Advertising and Editorial where he directed these shoots, more often than not also following through and styling also. In some cases Marcus has worked with other well known Stylists to create a finished product. Here you can see his process which often involves presenting ideas and concepts, sketching, set design, sourcing and coming up with color palettes. In most cases when employed as Prop Stylist or Style Director, Marcus uses this very distinct work method from start to finish creating award winning campaigns and editorial content.
